Form + Place worked with the owners to rethink the rear entry sequence off their small parking area. A new covered porch provides a welcoming transition to a mudroom with built-ins, and an expanded kitchen with a renovated pantry / laundry area. On the second floor, above the new kitchen wing, an expanded master bedroom suite is cleverly accommodated, with a new master bathroom – featuring a skylit tub / shower - accessed through a reconfigured walk-in closet. The new second floor bath addition has a gabled roof that telescopes off the master bedroom volume, while the lower mudroom roof is rendered in a wrap-around hip style that compliments the scale of the existing house.
